Ticino may easily be reached by car, particularly from the South, via the autostrada dei Laghi motorway from Milan to the Swiss Chiasso-Brogeda border, then via the A2 motorway going North, following signs for Gotthard and passing through Mendrisio, Lugano and Bellinzona.

• Take the Biasca exit (70 km from the border).
• Ticino may be reached from the North by taking the A2 (St. Gotthard) or A13 (San Bernardino) motorway, southbound.

Ticino may be reached from every side of Mediterranean Europe by means of  the international railway line from Milano-Centrale via Como, T, by Intercity trains or the fast Cisalpino train. Departures from Milan to Ticino are guaranteed every hour.
From the north, connections with major Swiss cities are ensured by the Swiss Federal Railway San Gottardo line, with departures at regular intervals.
