Packed Bed Storage

The use of air  helps realize an easy storage system. In principle. the heat is stored in stones allowing  hot air to flow in the tank.    Heat during the day  is released (packed bed storage ). Overnight the process is reversed obtaining hot air used for the steam generator and turbine. Our design enables an efficient heat storage so that high temperature air may be obtained until l the tank is almost „empty“ (cold).  For this reason,  the efficiency of the power block is guaranteed because  optimal conditions are constantly maintained.
Our current design allows operation over a period of  24 hours  so that in arid regions, energy is produced for up to 8000 hours. Our aim is to  store energy for up to 2 or 3 days.

Energy production may be regulated according to market requirements providing additional financial benefits.
The packed bed storage is a well known heat storage system.  As a matter of fact, it was developed and tested 70 years ago.  Thefirst known written source was reported by Schumann in 1929.
Many tests and simulations have been carried out and have confirmed the high efficiency and especially the advantageous low construction costs.
High temperature operation has been tested and confirmed using silica based rocks as filler.
